The goal of this assignment is to make a webshop redesign. Our group has chosen to make a redesign of the webshop of Harolds, a store for art supplies. The physical store of Harolds is located in Rotterdam, but via the webshop, Harolds delivers both to the Netherlands and abroad. However, the webshop is only available in dutch.
The reason why we chose to redesign the webshop of Harolds is that it does not reflect the creativity we expect from an art supply store such as Harolds. The visual appearance of the webshop seems very straightforward and uninspiring. Harolds uses the sentence ‘the largest urban art store’ as promotion on the homepage, but this does not match with the feeling the overall design of the website provokes.
The assignment is divided into two parts. The first part contains an analysis of the visual structure of the webshop, followed by a user test. The first part is concluded with a functional redesign. The second part of the assignment focuses on aesthetics. A vision for the webshop is formulated and next, this vision is translated into a visual identity. The experience of the products is discussed and finally, a dynamic interaction is presented.
